In One Accord: 50 Days to Pentecost

Daily Devotional

Day 5 of 50– Freedom From the Grave

Scripture (NKJV):
John 11:44
“And he who had died came out bound hand and foot with graveclothes, and his face was wrapped with a cloth. Jesus said to them, ‘Loose him, and let him go.’”

Devotional Thought:
Lazarus walked out of the tomb alive—but he was still bound.

Jesus didn’t just raise him… He restored him. Fully.

There are moments in our lives where God has already brought us out of something—out of sin, out of fear, out of addiction, out of despair—but we’re still wrapped in what once held us. The grave is behind us, yet the graveclothes remain.

But hear the voice of Jesus today:
“Loose him… let him go.”

This is not just a command to others—it’s a declaration over your life. You are not meant to live bound by what God has already delivered you from. Shame, guilt, past mistakes, old mindsets—those are graveclothes, not garments for the living.

Freedom is not just about coming out of the grave.
Freedom is about walking unbound.

Jesus didn’t call Lazarus back to life just to leave him restricted. And He hasn’t called you into new life to remain stuck in old patterns.

Today is a day of release.
Today is a day of unwrapping.
Today is a day to walk in the fullness of what God has already done in you.

You are free—now live like it.

Journal Prompt:
What “graveclothes” am I still holding onto even though God has already brought me out? What would it look like for me to fully walk in freedom today?

Prayer:
Father, thank You for calling me out of the grave. Thank You for new life through Jesus. Today, I ask You to help remove anything that still tries to bind me—every lie, every fear, every piece of my past that I’ve carried too long. I receive Your freedom. I declare that I am no longer who I used to be. Give me the courage to walk fully unbound and alive in You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
