In One Accord: 50 Days to Pentecost

Daily Devotional

Day 12 of 50 – Faith Comes Through Encounter

Scripture (NKJV):
“Jesus said to him, ‘Thomas, because you have seen Me, you have believed. Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.’” — John 20:29

Devotional Thought:
Faith is not merely built on information—it is strengthened through encounter. Knowing about Jesus can introduce you to truth, but experiencing Jesus transforms your confidence in that truth.

Thomas struggled to believe until he encountered the risen Christ personally. In that moment, doubt was replaced with conviction. Jesus gently corrected him, but He also revealed a powerful principle: the deepest faith grows when we move from observation to encounter.

Even today, Jesus meets us through His Spirit. You may not see Him with your natural eyes, but He is present in your prayer life, in quiet moments of reflection, in the Word, and in unexpected divine interruptions throughout your day. Each encounter—big or small—builds trust. Over time, those moments form a foundation that holds firm even when circumstances feel uncertain.

Faith grows when we consistently position ourselves in places where encounters happen: prayer, worship, Scripture, and stillness before God. As you draw near, your awareness of Him increases, and with it, your confidence in who He is.

Journal Prompt:
Recall a time when God showed up unexpectedly. What did that moment reveal about His character, and how has it shaped your faith since then?

Prayer:
Father, thank You for being a God who meets me where I am. Increase my faith through deeper encounters with You. Help me to recognize Your presence even when I cannot see with my natural eyes. Strengthen my trust in You daily, and teach me to live by faith and not by sight. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
